About Memorial City

Developed in the early 1990's, Memorial City, Houston is located along Interstate 10 between Beltway 8 and Bunker Hill Road. Memorial City has been and continues to undergo progressive development which is an effort to keep the area thriving. Memorial City is to receive a $500 million investment. The investment is intended to incorporate new retail divisions, development of a lifestyle district, integrate a luxury hotel and to erect luxurious mid-rise condominiums.As with everyone, the economy, crime, increased traffic and progression have been major concerns of everyone residing in the city of Memorial. The goal of city government officials is to attract new businesses, improve traffic flow, encourage, and promote security measures.Major employers within the area are the Memorial City Mall, the City Memorial Hermann Medical Center, the Chase Bank Service Center, CEMEX US Operations and Metro National Corporation. Memorial City has two dozen retail shopping centers, presently 20 office buildings and a number of hotels and multi- family housing complexes located throughout the area.The Memorial City school district is governed by the Spring Branch Independent School District. Preschoolers are taught at the Wildcat Way School in Houston. Elementary students attend one of three schools: Bunker Hill Elementary, Frostwood Elementary or Shadow Oaks Elementary. Middle school students attend either Spring Oaks Middle or Memorial Middle schools. High School students attend Memorial High or Spring Woods High. Boundaries are plotted to integrate homes zoned in locations north or south of Interstate I-10.
