HISTORY OF THIS EVENT
Mardi Gras Houston event for 2018 planned in only 20 days. Featured 35 parties in and around Downtown Establishments.
Mardi Gras Houston 2019 planned expanded event which will continue to grow year after year.
Houston deserves a Mardi Gras event. We have a deep connection with our sister city New Orleans. There is no large event for Mardi Gras... until now. At the beginning of 2018, we asked a few friends a simple question. "What would you want in a Mardi Gras event here in Houston?"
The question was originally posted with no marketing budget or promotions. It was an honest question. The excitement was incredible. Our friends shared the idea. Their friends shared it. It went viral. It was viewed by over 4,000,000 people. We tapped into something amazing. The result... Houstonians want a Mardi Gras Houston event. You want this. And you made your voice heard.
We continued to listen. And reach out to Houstonians who wanted to be involved with this Movement. We knew we only had about 20 days to plan something for 2018. So, Mardi Gras Houston was conceived and 2018 was Year Zero. We helped to organize a neighborhood block party which included 35 events in and around establishments all over Downtown. Each event as unique as the individual establishments. Beads, Costumes, Music and Entertainment throughout the district.
We also began to form the partnerships needed and speak with the organizations and governing powers who could help make something even bigger happen. Those conversations are the beginning of proc
